Undergraduate Vacation Internships

EPSRC Vacation Internships offer undergraduate students an opportunity to experience academic research within a UK university setting. These internships are particularly suited to students considering future doctoral study in engineering, physical sciences, or mathematical sciences.

At the University of Southampton, EPSRC internships are delivered through theÌýUndergraduate Summer Research Internship Programme (USRIP)—a structured 10-week initiative designed for students in the penultimate year of their undergraduate degree. The programme is coordinated byÌýCareers, Employability and Student Enterprise, in partnership with theÌýDoctoral College.

Successful applicants will join a University of Southampton research group and contribute to a defined 10-week research project. Interns will participate in a comprehensive induction, a mid-way development day, and a final poster presentation to showcase their research outcomes. All students on any UoS internship are paid at Real Living Wage or above.
