Southampton named the UK’s second most affordable student city

In the , a study conducted by NatWest, Southampton has been named the second most affordable city for students to live in.

Southampton closely followed Belfast in the running for the most affordable student city, based on four key aspects of student life: essentials, socialising, sports and fitness, and hobbies and interests. Southampton rose from 15th place in the .

The study of 2,486 students showed that students studying in Southampton are most likely to spend time with a part-time job, and earn more term-time income than other cities. It also highlighted that students across all universities spend most of their time studying, at an average of 27.5 hours per week compared to 12.5 hours socialising and 4.5 hours in part-time work.
