Faculty of Business, Law and Art – You Said, We Did

The Faculty of Business, Law and Art spans a wide range of disciplines including Internet Law, Maritime Law, Environmental Law, Strategy, Marketing, HR Management, Design, Textiles, Graphics and Fashion.

Students’ feedback helps to shape university services and, in turn, improves the student experience.

Throughout the academic year, students have fed back on a number of aspects they would like to see improved within the Faculty. Below you will find some examples of how the Faculty has implemented this feedback. View more examples on the Student Voice website by clicking .

Southampton Business School

  • You said: We need one place to find school information, news and events.
  • We did: We created our new where you can find all of that and more. We also welcome blogs from staff and students. In addition to our website, we have continued our newsletters for 2017 and welcome student contributions and news items.
  • You said: We need help getting used to new ways of learning at university level.
  • We did: We have now introduced peer learning which trains Business School students to facilitate fun learning sessions to help first years reach their full potential.

Law

  • You said: Summative assessment coursework deadlines are sometimes too closely bunched together.
  • We did: Where possible, we have tried to spread out summative assessment deadlines to give students more time between their deadlines.
  • You said: We would benefit from an updated student area in the Law School where we can meet and work independently, or as groups.
  • We did: Over the summer we refurbished the student common room to create a light and airy, quality independent learning and student social space.

Art

  • You said: You wanted more opportunities to offer feedback part-way through the semester.
  • We did: We started ‘Post It Note mid semester feedback sessions’ for all modules across all years. This gave students the opportunity to tell us what’s working well and what isn’t. Issues were split into quick fixes that could be implemented immediately, as well as longer term actions for future semesters.
  • You said: As international students, we would benefit from more writing support.
  • We did: English for Academic Purposes’ provides support to our international students. This help is available to students who require additional support

Students are welcome to get in touch with any feedback regarding their course and university services. ¸£Àû×ÅƬ out how to give feedback by following the links below:
