The Women in Science, Engineering and Technology (WiSET) awards ceremony was held on Wednesday 9 May.
The awards recognise and reward exceptional contributions of individuals across our聽University who have worked to raise the profile and participation of women in Science, Technology, Engineering, Mathematics and Medicine (STEMM), and made an outstanding contribution to supporting women in academia above and beyond the requirements of their formal role.

The winners were:
- Rebecca French of Physical Sciences and Engineering. Rebecca is a Postgraduate Researcher and is a founding member of the . Her WiSET Award Trophy was given to her by her Head of School, Professor Jonathan Flynn.
- Emma Osborne of Social, Human and Mathematical Sciences. Emma is a third-year PhD student and is involved in many public engagement projects, including her own YouTube channel 鈥楾he Extraordinary Universe鈥�, and an Instagram blog where she shares her PhD journey. Her WiSET Award Trophy was given to her by her Head of School Professor Jon Forster.
There were a high number of outstanding nominations, and all nominees deserve celebrating.
- The聽nominees from聽聽were: Aneesha Sethi, Professor m.c. schraefel, Lieke van Putten, and Adriana Wilde.
- Also nominated were Dr Lindsay-Marie Armstrong and Dr Edward Richardson from Engineering and the Environment; and聽Dr Stuart Clarke, Dr Nicola Englyst, and Dr Michael Head from Medicine.
- The nominees from Natural and Environmental Sciences were:聽Nina Faure Beaulieu, Moira MacLean, Dr Shmma Quraishe, Professor Andrea Russell and Millie Watts.
After much debate amongst the WiSET committee, the difficult decision to determine the winners was made.
