In the last week, two UK universities reported the occurrence of 鈥榗yber incidents鈥�, which could have been initiated by phishing attacks. These incidents have severely degraded their University IT services at a vital time in the university calendar.
The University of Southampton is taking these reported incidents very seriously and has put together a working group to mitigate any potential security issues or vulnerabilities.
We would like to take this opportunity to remind all staff and students to remain vigilant.聽 Below are some best practices you can use to help protect yourself and the University from cyber security attacks:
- Make sure you鈥檙e using the latest versions of all software, apps and operating system;
- Use a different password to access your University login than other apps such as Facebook;
- Familiarise yourself with ; and
- If you receive a suspicious email, and delete them.
