With the end of the holiday year approaching, you may have questions about carrying forward unused holiday entitlement. Here is what you need to know.

- The holiday year ends on 30 September and the new holiday year starts on 1 October.
- You are encouraged to use all your holiday entitlement by the end of the holiday year.
- In exceptional circumstances your line manager may agree that you can carry forward up to 1 week* of unused holiday (pro-rata if you are part-time) to the new holiday year.
- The form to request to carry over holiday will be available on the Service Portal from 1 October.
- You will have until the end of October to submit your request which your line manager will need to approve.
- Staff who are on maternity or adoption leave at the start of the new holiday year will have any remaining holiday carried forward for them, and do not need to submit a request.
You can find information about carrying over holiday in the .
A link to the request form will be added to this site at the beginning of October and announced in a further SUSSED post.
