Update (16 September): The protests continue to be held weekly with no specified end date. You can find out more below about additional support for colleagues and students who may be affected.
Colleagues and students may be aware of information circulating regarding a planned anti-immigration protest at a hotel on Highfield Lane this evening (Friday 8 August), and others over the coming weeks. We pride ourselves on diversity and inclusivity, and will do everything within our power to keep you safe in your place of work or study, and ensure you feel seen and supported.

The University respects the right to lawful protest and free speech. However, we also know that these events can be unsettling for many, and staff members are encouraged to speak openly with their line manager or supervisor about any concerns they may have. They can then support you in alterations to your work or travel arrangements today to enable you to prioritise your personal safety and wellbeing.
As a University of Sanctuary, we are known for our commitment to creating a culture of safety, inclusion and support for those seeking sanctuary. Our inclusive community embodies the values and behaviours that unite us, not divide us. We take our responsibilities to free speech seriously, but acts that incite violence and hatred towards others are not acceptable.ÌýWe continue to work closely with the Police and other authorities and will take swift action if any threats against our staff or students come to light.
If you need immediate support at one of our sites please call on 023 8059 3311 (Ext. 23311).Ìý
