You’re invited to the next local alumni meetup: A Lens for Conservation

Did you study at the University of Southampton? You’re invited to the next Southampton Alumni Society meetup with Lara Jackson: award winning wildlife photographer, conservation biologist, and University of Southampton alumna whose research has taken her around the world.

Attend for an evening of adventure with Lara through the Serengeti to Antarctica to the Isle of Mull, all from the comfort of the John Hansard Gallery, as we answer the question ‘how can photography raise awareness for pressing conservation topics?’ Lara will also be joined by the Hampshire and Isle of Wight Wildlife Trust who will share practical steps we can all take to protect our wildlife here in Southampton.

Details

  • Thursday 4 September
  • 18:00 to 20:00
  • John Hansard Gallery

Meet Lara

Lara has dedicated her career to raising awareness of conservation efforts by inspiring young minds and increasing the number of people entering the scientific world.

Lara completed her undergraduate and postgraduate degrees at the University of Southampton, including a MRes in Wildlife Conservation and Biology which took her to northern Kenya to work with critically endangered black rhinos alongside the Lewa Wildlife Conservancy.
