Welcome to a new academic year: a message from Vice-President Education Professor Deborah Gill

As we begin the first full week of teaching for most of you, it’s exciting to see our campuses filled with energy as you reconnect, make new friends, and settle into university life. With the seasons starting to change, there’s a palpable sense of excitement and possibility in the air.ÌýÌý

Whether you’re new or returning to us, it’s perfectly normal to be finding your rhythm – starting a new term is all about exploring new opportunities and establishing a routine that works for you.ÌýÌý

This is a great opportunity to remind you of the wealth of support available at Southampton to help you and your studies thrive. I recommend visiting the site to find out about the academic support and services on offer.Ìý

Before coming to campus each day, make sure to check for any updates on locations, as these are subject to change. You may find that your teaching locations differ from what you’re used to or may be on a different part of campus. To ensure a smooth start to your classes, please allow yourself extra time to find where you need to be so that you can settle in comfortably.Ìý

If you have any concerns or are feeling overwhelmed, don’t hesitate to reach out to your Personal Academic Tutor (PAT) or – we are here to support you. Ìý

Wishing you all the best for the term ahead and I look forward to seeing you at our campuses soon.Ìý
