Advice and support ahead of planned protests (update 30 October)

Protests we have previously shared information about continue to be held weekly with no specified end date.

You may be aware of information circulating regarding a planned anti-immigration protest this evening (30 October).

As a University, we pride ourselves on diversity and inclusivity, and will do everything within our power to keep you safe in your place of work or study, and ensure you feel seen and supported.

The University respects the right to lawful protest and free speech. However, we also know that these events can be unsettling for many, and we encourage you to seek support if you need it.

As a University of Sanctuary, we are known for our commitment to creating a culture of safety, inclusion and support for those seeking sanctuary. Our inclusive community embodies the values and behaviours that unite us, not divide us. We take our responsibilities to free speech seriously, but acts that incite violence and hatred towards others are not acceptable. We continue to work closely with the Police and other authorities and will take swift action if any threats against our staff or students come to light.

We have a caring and supportive global community here at the University and we encourage anyone affected to seek support through one or more of the following channels:
