Module overview
This module focuses on producing impactful, contextually responsive spatial design outcomes that contribute to meaningful change. Building on the foundations established in Semester 1’s Design Projects: Investigate, Imagine, Intervene, you will extend your experience of the Spatial Design process by applying it to real‑world, externally set projects. Through this, you will strengthen your abilities in research, ideation and the communication of spatial solutions to clients and stakeholders.
You will work collaboratively to address spatial and environmental design challenges, developing essential professional skills in teamwork, shared decision‑making and the effective use of individual strengths within a group context. This approach mirrors contemporary industry practice, preparing you to operate confidently within multidisciplinary design teams.
Projects will be delivered in partnership with WSA Exchange and the Art School’s Research Labs, offering opportunities to engage with community, civic, cultural or environmental partners. These live briefs will enable you to design with purpose, accountability and empathy, while deepening your understanding of client engagement. You will learn how to negotiate project constraints, respond to stakeholder feedback and shape design proposals that are both creative and responsible.
