Module overview

This module introduces professional standards, regulations, commercial awareness, and industry contexts relevant to product design. You will undertake a self-initiated project in which you learn the craft of writing a professional brief. You will explore markets, generate insights, and develop knowledge of liability, intellectual property (IP) management, and client engagement. The module provides practical experience in developing, writing, and refining professional briefs and product design specifications. It also focuses on enhancing skills in professional communication, project management, decision-making, understanding the financial implications of production, and effectively responding to uncertainty. Guest lectures by industry practitioners are integrated to provide real-world perspectives.
