Module overview

This module enables students to deliver an independent, research‑driven product design project that demonstrates originality, technical expertise, and professional presentation, evidencing the full range of learning from the programme and supporting individual career aspirations. Building upon the proposals and initial research undertaken in Semester 1, students undertake further visual, technical, and contextual research relevant to their project intentions, supporting the development and refinement of a final, resolved design direction. Drawing on social, sustainable, and technological insights, students develop meaningful product outcomes that engage with real‑world contexts and demonstrate ethical and sustainable decision‑making. Projects progress from an initial project focus through research, concept development, experimentation, prototyping, and refinement to a resolved final outcome. Final proposals are communicated using industry‑standard methods and professional‑level presentation skills, evidencing both low‑ and high‑fidelity development. This module culminates in a public showcase of work, exhibited in an appropriate professional format.
