About this course

Gain a greater understanding of allergic diseases with our fully online postgraduate diploma in allergy.

This is a flexible course for healthcare professionals, enabling you to study alongside other commitments. Our allergy diploma is suitable for you if you鈥檙e working in a hospital or community, as a doctor, nurse, dietitian, clinical psychologist or pharmacist.

We've designed PGDip Allergy so you can not only advance your knowledge of allergic diseases, but also use that knowledge in everyday clinical practice to improve patient outcomes.

The course covers paediatric and adult allergy, and you can tailor your learning with modules on topics such as:

  • asthma and allergic airways disease
  • drug allergy
  • eczema, urticaria and skin allergy
  • food allergy
  • immunotherapy

We are recognised as a World Allergy Organization Centre of Excellence, and our courses are taught by leaders in the field of allergy. 

Our flexible learning environment includes live online teaching as well as pre-recorded sessions, helping you to personalise your experience and learn at your convenience within each teaching week. We also emphasise interactive learning, providing multiple opportunities for discussion.

Flexible study

There are many ways to study allergy with us:

  • a part-time masters (MSc): available as a 3-year programme (eligible for a UK government master's loan) or a 2- to 5-year programme
  • a postgraduate certificate (PGCert): study full-time over 1 year, or part-time over 2 years
  • a postgraduate diploma (PGDip): study full-time over 1 year, or part-time over 2 to 4 years

You can also take a single module as part of continuing professional development (CPD). Explore modules that are available as CPD

Your modules and fees may vary if you choose a different study option.

Course lead

This course is led by Dr Elizabeth Miles. Elizabeth has a PhD in early life immunology and development of allergy. Within the Faculty of Medicine, she is involved in postgraduate and undergraduate education.
