Victoria joined Southampton in 2025 as a Lecturer in Computer Science, following the completion of her PhD in the summer of 2025. Prior to working in academia, Victoria spent 20 years working in the technology industry, primarily in financial services. She worked in several companies and various roles such as developer, team lead, business analyst, and product manager before leading a large engineering team responsible for providing the developer tools and software development governance for all the development teams at a large, international bank. This rich industry work experience has given Victoria a deep understanding of developing software and sparked my interest in studying the human aspects of software engineering. She brings this rich experience into her research.

Victoria received her PhD in Informatics from the University of California, Irvine, under the supervision of Prof. Andre van der Hoek. Her dissertation was entitled "Creativity in the everyday work of sofware professionals" and explored how creativity manifested in daily work, including when using Large Language Models.

Victoria has a BA (Hons) in Mathematics and Computation from the University of Oxford and an MSc in Computer Science from Manchester University. At Oxford, she studied at St Hilda's College.

Victoria is a member of the IEEE, ACM, and a BCS CITP.
