About
Tahrima Hossain is Teaching Fellow in Academic Practice (Evaluation) of the Centre for Higher Education Practice (CHEP) at the University of Southampton. Her role supports the evaluation of the programmes and projects led by CHEP.
With a focus on using real evidence, Tahrima supports her colleagues in gaining insights into the performance of various programs, spanning education, research, knowledge exchange, enterprise, and postgraduate research development.
Tahrima is also involved in supporting the evaluation of Strategic Major Projects to evidence positive change.
In addition to these responsibilities, Tahrima is committed to nurturing an evaluative culture and fostering awareness regarding the significance of evaluation.

Current research
Tahrima's current research focus delves into the ethical aspects and the lens of Equity, Diversity, and Inclusion (EDI) within the realm of evaluation. She explores how EDI initiatives can be effectively evaluated while ensuring that evaluations themselves are inclusive and ethically sound.
Furthermore, Tahrima is actively engaged in the development of a comprehensive set of resource materials designed to guide individuals through the entire evaluation process. This invaluable resource will encompass every stage of evaluation, from the initial planning phase to the final reporting, with a special emphasis on incorporating insights gained from the evaluation process into actionable initiatives.

Biography
Tahrima joined the University in November 2022.Before joining the team she worked as a Research officer for the Research on Improving Systems of Education (RISE) team at Blavatnik School of Government, University of Oxford. The global research endeavour seek to evaluate how education systems in developing countries can overcome the learning crisis.
Tahrima's unique background, marked by international experiences, has shaped her expertise in education research, international collaboration, and large-scale evaluation. Having grown up in a developing country and having worn multiple hats as a teacher, teacher trainer, and education researcher in various developing nations, she possesses the invaluable ability to view educational challenges from both within and outside the context, making her a valuable asset to large-scale education projects.
She also has experience working with several Russel Group English universities, which has deepened her understanding of how education system works in HE. Her dedication to improving educational systems and fostering sustainable impact goes beyond research. She actively engages in the crucial work of evidencing and evaluating the transformative impact of education. Tahrima is also a member of the UK Evaluation Society, a distinguished Teach For All Alumni, and a former Chevening Scholar.
